AUTOGAS 2000 LEISURE TRAINING CENTRE

At the Autogas 2000 Leisure training centre we can offer training packages form one day courses through to full 5 day STGW courses. We offer a classroom based training for theory and assessments, and a fully equipped workshop including a 4 post lift ramp so you can have hands on experience for your practical training and assessments. 

Below are some of the courses we offer at our premises.

 

Standards of Training in Gas Works for Touring Caravans and Motorhomes STGW (formally ACOPS)

Aims and Objectives:
A training and assessment programme designed to clearly identify the skills and knowledge required by a competent person, to safely carry out safety checks and gas work in relation to systems and appliances installed in touring caravans, van conversions and motorhomes.
You do not need six months pre-work experience to attend this course as you will be assessed on your knowledge, practical and theory as you progress through the course.

Duration:
Initial Training & Assessment: 5 day course
Renewal or re-assessment:  3 day course

Scope:
This programme is intended for operatives engaged in the installation, service and maintenance of gas systems and appliances currently found within touring caravans, van conversions and motorhomes.

Pre-Requisites:
Candidates must have completed a basic health and safety course and possess a working knowledge of touring caravans and motorhomes. If you have not completed a Health and safety course we can assist with this prior to the course commencing.

Autogas 2000 Leisure Training Centre, Carlton Miniott, Thirsk, North Yorkshire, YO7 4NJ

Training:
The training programme will utilise on screen presentations supported with the aid of a training manual, various standards, Code of Practices, and industry reference manuals. The practical assessments will take place in our workshop with actual vehicles, not classroom rigs.

The following topics are covered in the course:

      Legislation, Regulations, Standards & safe working
Properties and characteristics of LPG
Complete and incomplete combustion
Gas storage
Gas pipework
Tightness testing
Flues
Ventilation
Appliances & controls
Commissioning and annual gas safety checks

To confirm competence the candidate’s knowledge and understanding of the subjects will be established by the application of multi-choice theoretical question papers and completion of specified practical tasks.

Assessment:
The training & assessments will be conducted by a qualified assessor.

Certification:
The programme will be officially certificated. An eCert (electronic certificate of competence) and photo ID card will be issued to successful candidates.
This qualification is valid for a period of five years from the date of completion.
Our certification is accepted by the Leisure Industry and regulatory bodies as proof of gas competence, including the NCC Approved Workshop Scheme (AWS).

This course does not cover any Leisure Accommodation Vehicle that is for hire or reward. This type of vehicle requires an ACS Gas Safe LPG qualification.

Vehicle Mounted LPG Tank Training Programme

Training Programme Overview:
The Vehicle mounted LPG Tank Training Programme has been designed to identify the skills and knowledge required by a competent person, to carry out inspection, service and maintenance to vehicle mounted LPG Tanks.
Duration: 1 Day.
The tutor-led training programme consists of a classroom-based presentation of approximately 40 slides. The content covers Liquid Gas UK CoP 32, Liquid Gas UK CoP 11 &
BS EN1949.
The Learner will be trained in the following areas:
• Visual inspection of the tank for damage/corrosion
• Visual inspection of the support fixings
• Inspection of the gas supply to and from the tank
• Testing of the tank gas supply.

Theoretical Assessment:
One open book multi-choice theoretical examination, consisting of 24 questions (50 minutes guided time limit).
Practical Assessment:
The practical assessment consists of one open book assessment paper split into 7 practical tasks / scenarios. The practical assessment paper is used by the candidate whilst completing the practical tasks, the assessor will make observations and check evidence supplied by the candidate to confirm his/her competence against the criteria specified.
The content of the practical assessment covers: Liquid Gas UK CoP 32 Liquid Gas UK CoP 11 BS EN 1949 IGEM/UP/1B

This course allows any NCC Approved Workshop Scheme members to work on underslung gas tanks which up until now has not been allowed.
